SELL AND TEACH

Want to expand your business into multiple streams of income? Well, this Indie Star shows how it’s done with just one material.
Glass artist, Chris Jones and his wife, Jennifer, own and operate Fantome Glass in downtown Kennewick, Washington.
Using the skills he learned in 2001, he sells his beautiful works of art glass across the country (in wineries, gift shops and his own gift gallery), but the couple has also honed in on a few key niches — teaching wannabe glassblowers the craft and supplying other artists in the area with the glass to create.
Visit their downtown location and you’ll see a wise architectural feature – a window in the back of the gallery that looks into the studio where Chris works and creates.
The window allows curious customers to see how the art is crafted, while simultaneously fanning the flames of potential students.
On the shelves of the gallery you’ll find completed works of beauty, but you’ll also find the raw materials and supplies to create your own works of art — giving students a one stop on-site shop for classes AND materials.
This young couple has developed three potential streams of revenue all involving glass all under one roof. How smart is that!?
